RISAW

JRPS Richmond Invasive Species Awareness Week returns this year at the end of the month with a big calendar of events and a kickoff party on the 22nd that you don’t want to miss. We think RISAW (and Invasive Plant Management) is super important - not only does it help our native ecology thrive but stable trails and invasive management really go hand in hand.
When you enjoy Northbank in the summer, the Kudzu below Hollywood Cemetery hides rocks, grabs at your legs, and quickly works to overtake the surrounding terrain. There are so many places in our parks where dense Privet bushes obscure the turns, taking away a clear line of sight. English Ivy blankets the shaded forest floor in some places, providing a habitat for mosquitos while it spreads rapidly.

Join us for one of many calendar events: starting Sunday, February 22nd and ending with the final Guided Walk on Saturday, February 28th.
