As summer draws to a close and the cooler temperatures start to set in, it’s time for trail season to kick in to high gear. The first official trail day for the James River trail system will take place this Saturday, September 21 at 9 a.m. and the work will focus on giving the Belle Isle Skills Area some much needed TLC – just in time for Take a Kid MTB Day the following weekend.

The work will involve the following:

  • Reshaping the berms and rollers on beginner pump track, along with reworking the crossover lines on the track.
  • Reshaping a few sections on the advanced pump track, as well.
  • Both pump tracks will also get swept clean.
  • The most difficult rock garden will get reworked.
  • General tidying up of all the features in the area.

If time permits and there are enough volunteers for the day, there are a couple of sections on the single track that leads up to the top of the island that need some work.

So please join us, even if for just an hour or so – your help is very much appreciated!
