Scout Camp riders – here we go. We have the “go-ahead” to start riding but, without wheels on the trail for almost 3 months, we have some work to do first. We haven’t been out to assess yet but We’re told by the site grounds manager that the trails are pretty overgrown. Given the number of storms this summer there are probably some trees down as well. So, here’s the plan. As one the the four official Richmond-MORE trail work days that we sponsor each year at the Scout Camp, we’ll need as many hands as we can get! If you have any tools, please bring them. Useful tools include: leaf blowers, hedge/brush/pole trimmers, loppers, handsaws and pruning shears.

For yourself, please bring: boots, gloves, hydration, snack and bug spray (Deet at a minimum of 25%). You may also consider bringing along a light, long sleeve shirt.

If we can get the trail cleared, we’ll be able ride the next day so if you like the scout camp trails, please consider coming out to help us get the rides back up and going. We’ll be working with the director to schedule the rest of the rides which should occur at least once a week IF (you notice that’s the BIG “if”…) weather cooperates and we have enough ride hosts. All the information is below:

SCOUT CAMP TRAIL DAY

DATE: Saturday, August 10

TIME: 9:00 a.m.

If you can get there by 9:00 – great! We’ll be heading out to the work sites around 9:15-9:30. If you can’t get there till later – no worries, just come to the pavilion where the sign-up sheet will be and we’ll leave a phone number there so you can call to find you where the work parties are.
