Q: Who’s on the board?

Meet the folks who serve as officers and/or board members on rvaMORE.

(Learn about their hopes, dreams, beer preferences…)

A. As of press time, there are currently 11 individuals serving as officers and/or directors on the rvaMORE board. This meet and greet post is as much for us as it is for you. Board meetings are usually all business (with a few digs and jokes thrown in here and there) and we certainly don’t know everything about each other so it’s a nice opportunity to delve a little deeper into our personal lives.

Without further ado, we present to you….the rvaMORE board!

LISA LAMBRECHT

(Secretary & Director)

  • How long have you served on the board? This is my second stint on the board. I served as secretary from 2004 – 2008 and rejoined as secretary in the Fall of 2013.
  • Why/how did you get involved with the club? My involvement with the club happened by association. My husband started the web forum, CyclingCentralVA.com (currently on hiatus but still active as a FB page) and through it, we met fellow mountain bikers who had been active in trail building in the past and were looking to foster their efforts by way of forming a legitimate club in Richmond. Richmond MORE started in 2004 as a subchapter of NOVA (Northern Virginia) MORE and I just happened to be acquainted with the folks who were there in the beginning. While I knew little about trail building or serving on a board, I was more than willing to help out in whatever capacity made sense. Since I’m secretary by day, my admin skills came in handy serving as secretary for the club.
  • What do you do for a living to afford your bike habit? Legal Assistant at a law firm in downtown Richmond
  • What rigs do you own? 2014 BMC Four Stroke 29r (cross country), 20__? Santa Cruz Bullit (for the occasional downhill run), 2013 Specialized Crux (for my cross rides), 2012 Specialized Roubaix (road)
  • Favorite section of local trail? North Bank trail – that rooty section by the tree where that rock sits? Just kidding – actually when you’re traveling east towards Tredegar, past the stump dump just below Hollywood Cemetery and the trail opens up after you leave the canopy of the trees. You get a clear view of the river and railroad tracks to the right and the city in front of you. It’s developed yet primitive looking and for some reason, it makes me feel hopeful about anything. It’s like a great awakening.
  • Favorite item in your gear bag/cycling pack? Snacks
  • Favorite trail snacks? Clif Shot Blocks (any flavor), Payday bars, flour tortilla wrap spread with Nutella, peanut butter and bananas. Mmmmm.
  • Baggies or spandex? Both! Baggies are preferred for “real” mountain rides because they offer more protection and have pockets, which are prime real estate for snacks.
  • Mountain bike trail(s) on your bucket list? Sedona, Colorado
  • Favorite go-to beer(s) (limit answer to top 4)? Avery’s White Rascal (good trail beer), Southern Tier’s Pumking, Oskar Blues’ Old Chub, and Shipyard Brewing’s Pumpkinhead (good trail beer)

JOSH EAGER

(Director)

  • How long have you served on the board? Since late 2009, so coming up on six years.
  • Why/how did you get involved with the club? To give back for all the enjoyment the trails have provided myself and family.  As an outdoor and fitness oriented family, we spend lots of time on the trails riding, hiking, running, etc.  The trails don’t build and maintain themselves, so it has always been important to make sure we support the trail system in any way we can.
  • What do you do for a living to afford your bike habit? I am a CPA working in Finance.
  • What rigs do you own? Giant Anthem X1, Giant Anthem 1, Redline Monocog, and my first mountain bike…a GT Timberline, which is relegated to cruising the neighborhood.  That’s right, all 26’ers…I gave up big wheels when I was 6!
  • Favorite section of local trail? Buttermilk, FHP, and the new Poca flow trail.
  • Favorite item in your gear bag/cycling pack? I don’t have a favorite, but I’m sure all the tubed riders on the trail would vote for the spare tube & pump I carry.  I’ve helped fix a lot of flats over the years.
  • Favorite trail snacks? I usually steal my kids gummy fruit snacks.  They go down easy when the mouth is dry and are pretty tasty.
  • Baggies or spandex? Depends, but usually spandex to stay as cool/dry as possible.
  • Mountain bike trail(s) on your bucket list? The Moab experience is on my list for a future trip.
  • Favorite go-to beer(s) (limit answer to top 4)? A good local stout or IPA on tap is always at the top of my list.

CLARK JONES

  • Why/how did you get involved with the club? Wayne [Goodman] got me involved around 10 yrs ago. I wanted to help be a part of something special…which is what I saw in our JRPS. Saw helping build & maintain the JRPS trails as a great way to ‘give back’ to the community and enjoy the sporty I love.

  • Favorite go-to beer(s) (limit answer to top 4)? I’m a whimpy beer drinker…so don’t hold it against me. Corona, Dos Equis, PBR, Bell’s Oberon Ale.

* Greg’s a busy guy and after hounding him for months to answer these questions, one of our board members took it upon himself to fill in the blanks, while also providing secondary answers that may hold some truth. You snooze, you lose, Greg.

** Mark Lindsay will be stepping down from the board in 2016 as he rides off into the sunset in Mexico. We sincerely thank Mark for his time spent on the board and for the knowledge and expertise he has brought to the club. We also are sincerely jealous. Happy retirement!
