Richmond Cycling Corps has been doing amazing work since it’s inception in 2010, using the bicycle as a tool to help change the lives of youth in Richmond’s public housing. In 2014 they opened the Armstrong Bike Park, the nations first inner city mountain bike skills park. Today that park serves as one of the main training grounds for the Armstrong Cycling Team and for RCC’s efforts to get more kids out riding.
This Saturday we will be holding a workday to do some work on the bike park. There are some features that can use some refreshing as well as big plans for further expansion and improvements. This is a great opportunity to get your hands dirty helping out a great local organization.
We will be meeting at the bike park at Armstrong High School at 9 am. The bike park is located at 2700 Kane St, Richmond, VA 23223. There is some street parking available along Phaup st, as well as in the grass near the bike park and at the elementary school nearby. Bring sturdy work shoes, water, and gloves.
