Richmond, VA – The first annual Richmond Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day event, held at the Belle Isle Skills Park on September 28, 2103, was an overwhelming success.  Approximately forty children and their families gathered at the Park to enjoy various bike related games and activities, led by Ride Kore IMBA certified instructors and volunteers from River City Women’s Racing and Richmond-MORE.

The event sought to introduce children, and parents alike, to the basic skills necessary to safely navigate trails in the James River Park System and surrounding counties. Mountain bikes were made available to those in need by VA Outside.  Healthy snacks, to keep the energy levels up, were made available by donations from Fruit 66, River City Women’s Racing and Richmond MORE.

The faces of the participants told the story best.  Smiles and wide-eyed excitement confirmed just how much fun can be had on two wheels in the dirt!
