Saturday, August 9th

Scout Camp riders – we need your help! We need to get the trail in ride shape but the past winter storms have wreaked havoc on those trails! In order to get the trail ride ready, we need a short, 30 yard reroute and some carpenters to replank a bridge. THAT – will get us back to riding the trail but we’ll need more work to replace two bridges. This weekend will include these priorties:

  1. Reroute WAG trail
  2. Replace planking at last hill-loop bridge
  3. 9 downed tree sections
  4. Set pavers and bench for approach and exit of creek crossing prior to hill-loop section.
  5. Move bridge behind shooting range creek and place back in position.

The first two are needed to get riding back up! What that means is that we’ll have to hike a couple creek crossings and 9 downed trees but that’s not anything that we haven’t done before.

We will meet at the Cub Camp welcome center at 9:00 a.m. August 9 and work till around 3:00 or until your life calls you back home. We’ll probably have some pizza for lunch since it’s going to be a full day but still be sure to bring snacks and fluids for when you’re out in the woods. Also – be sure to bring bug spray, hydration, work gloves. If you have chain saw gear, please bring that as well! We have Personal Protective Equipment for 2 and we’ll need that to work these sections since this is a RVA MORE work day.

If you have never been out for trail, please consider coming out for this session. You will meet other mountain bikers and you will have a direct impact on the trails that you ride – THESE ARE YOUR TRAILS SO YOU HAVE A SAY IN HOW THEY GROW!
